Anywhere
Anywhere Theatre festival was founded with a vision of propelling a worldwide trend for engaging theatre outside of traditional theatre spaces. Its mission was to strip away the elitism of going to the theatre in order to reconnect the public with the age old tradition of story-telling and performance.
The first of these ambitious festivals was held in May this year, and Oblong was delighted to be a key sponsor of the event. We designed the identity for this year’s event along with all of the collateral (including business cards, posters, banners and a programme). Our concept was based on the idea of theatre revitalising different spaces and filling them with life and excitement, wherever they may be. To communicate this, we created a cheeky 3D ‘a’ creature, who visited different spaces in Brisbane and interacted with the environment. The whole identity was bright and eye-catching, reflecting the vibrancy and passion of Anywhere Theatre festival.
The word from the organisers is that the festival exceeded expectations and attendance predictions, and that next year will be even bigger and better, with more unexpected locations.
